Can you imagine a class full of first graders forced to read a book that’s filled with small text on each page? Not only would it be boring for the students, but they’re probably going to understand nothing.
So how do you convince a kid to read the book and actually retain the information? Paint a picture! And that’s exactly what a visual aid follow-up is all about: Drawing a picture to help prospect’s understand a concept or topic clearly.
In this template, instead of sending a wordy follow–up email that probably won’t provide much value or interest to the reader, a visual aid follow-up video with a prop like a whiteboard and marker can do wonders to provide an effective explanation.
Before you film your follow-up video, have a solid idea on the topic you're following up about and how you’re going to address it concisely. You can either write up a video script or make a few notes on your laptop and address them one-by-one. With either method, practice a few times to ensure you sound as natural as possible and feel comfortable on camera.
Next, choose your visual aid prop like a simple whiteboard background and marker. It’s up to you to have everything drawn out on the whiteboard beforehand and explain as you go, or, you can draw as you talk (though more interactive, drawing and talking might take a bit longer).
To put it all together, use the camera recording option in Vidyard’s browser extension feature to record your visual aid follow-up. You could also choose the screen + camera option if you decide to do a screen sharing of a digital whiteboard instead.
When you’re ready, it’s as easy as embedding the video link into the email with an eye-catching thumbnail, some body text, and a catchy subject line to get your prospect to open the email.
The visual aid follow-up template is best to use post-demo, but more importantly, as soon as your meeting with the prospect finishes and everything is still fresh.
While it doesn’t have to be straight away, stay away from sending a follow-up the week after your meeting. This is because you risk the chance of your prospect forgetting the meeting or finding another solution.
