Vidyard Continues to Prioritize Community Through Volunteerism, Product Donations, and Training

Results from Vidyard's Annual Community Social Impact Program

KITCHENER,Ontario – May 15, 2023 – Vidyard, the leading provider of video messaging and video hosting solutions for business, today released the results of its annual Community Social Impact Program, showcasing the company’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities where they operate and work. With more than 2,300 hours of volunteer time, $195,000 in product and training donations, and 6,500 trees planted, Vidyard is proud to say that it had its biggest year yet for its community give back programs.

Vidyard has seen an increase in volunteerism with the return to in-person opportunities with many of their community partners, coupled with their ongoing commitment to providing remote volunteering and support. For Vidyard’s remote workforce, virtual volunteer projects allowed for continued cross-collaboration regardless of geographical location.

Sustainability initiatives continue to be a priority for Vidyard, with their ongoing commitment to tree planting to help restore damaged ecosystems, stabilize soil, and support the water cycle.  To date, in partnership with One Tree Planted and Veritree, Vidyard has planted over 6,500 trees to support tree reforestation projects globally to reflect its growing global team while helping to offset its carbon footprint.

Vidyard contributed over 2,300 volunteer hours throughout the year supporting long term projects with local community partners, skilled volunteer time, mentorship, and support of community fundraising efforts.  Vidyard continues to look for new and innovative ways to support local community initiatives as social needs continue to evolve.

One of the key projects supported was for a community campaign called ‘Making Home – 97 Victoria’, a project of The Working Centre, a non-profit organization built in response to unemployment and poverty in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. The Making Home project provides integrated supportive housing and community resources in downtown Kitchener.  The team of volunteers at Vidyard supported the project through website development, graphic design, strategic marketing plans, and video creation, as well as providing Vidyard tools with specialized training.

“In the midst of our work, The Working Centre had a plan to redevelop land at 97 Victoria St. to create 44 units of housing and rebuild St. John’s Kitchen. Vidyard generously supported The Working Centre in developing a marketing plan for this project. Vidyard has been a fantastic partner helping us to house individuals through this project, but also helping us at our core, giving us marketing and social support and empowering us to do this much needed work.” – Joe Mancini, Executive Director of The Working Centre

Vidyard has continued to support student STEM/STEAM outreach programming, helping to inspire students while providing hands-on learning. Vidyard has partnered with many STEM/STEAM programs and organizations this past year including LAUNCH, YWCA Cambridge, and FLIGHT camp with University of Waterloo Women in Computer Science. Their efforts over the past year providing program support, mentorship, donation of space, and donation of products have helped many organizations and people in the community.  Vidyard is committed to equity in education, and continues to grow its support for organizations that provide impactful student programming to help inspire the next generation.

“We value innovation, critical thinking, problem solving, and an entrepreneurial spirit. LAUNCH programs inspire these values in children and youth, starting as young as 5 years old, through hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) activities. Vidyard has supported LAUNCH programs since our inception and we can’t thank them enough for sharing their space with our kids. Vidyard’s commitment to the community is exceptional!” – Tobi Day Hamilton, Co-founder and Executive Director of LAUNCH

Vidyard also launched a charitable donation matching program, which matches all employee charitable donations, and has helped to provide over $45,000 in donations back into the community and to organizations that matter most to their employees. In addition to the charitable donation matching program, Vidyard continues to provide over $165,000 each year of product donations and specialized training to charitable organizations through their Vidyard Give Back initiatives.

In addition to these community initiatives, Vidyard has also continued to prioritize internal programming with the addition of its Women Initiatives Network (WiN) this past year, providing resources, programming, and support for all women-identifying individuals within Vidyard. Its three main initiatives within WiN are the Speaker series, WiN Mentorship, and the Women in Engineering Task Force.

As Vidyard supports its community through various programming and initiatives, it continues to remain deeply committed to the needs of the community and works to ensure it helps support a community where all thrive and have a strong sense of belonging.
